Find Balance by Making it a Priority
I ran into a long-time friend while at the gym earlier this week. She had quit her job in the corporate world just over a year ago to become an entrepreneur. From a distance, it appeared she was doing well and keeping busy, so I asked her how her business was doing.
“Great!” she said. “I’ve been swamped with work, hired one assistant, and I’m considering hiring a second.”

When I asked her what her greatest challenge was in launching her business, she quickly responded, “Finding balance.”
“What do you mean?” I asked. (The term “balance” has never meant much to me other than a general response that many of us point to when exhausted or faced with an insurmountable challenge.)
She went on to explain that she had been faced with so much work early on in the business that she was working easily 50 to 60 hours per week. This had cut into the time she spent with her husband, as well as time she wanted to spend doing things for herself like going to the gym or visiting with friends.
